Hari Baskar · Reliability AI & Industrial Systems
I'm Hari Baskar, a senior data scientist and reliability practitioner based in India. I've spent about ten years turning noisy real-world data into decisions people can act on — first in NLP and computer vision, then in wind energy, where the data comes off physical machines and being wrong has a maintenance bill attached.
Along the way I picked up credentials most data scientists don't bother with — Asset Reliability Practitioner and Certified Vibration Analyst Category II from the Mobius Institute — because I think you can't model a machine you don't understand.
The long game: over the next decade I want to move down the stack, from software intelligence toward sensing, edge systems, and hardware. I write on this site to think clearly, in public, as I go.
Wind energy. That's as much as I'll say here — what I write on this site draws on public and synthetic examples only.
Led anomaly detection and reliability analytics for wind farms. This is where models stopped being abstractions for me: every prediction ended in a technician's decision about a physical machine.
Developed NLP chatbots, ML pipelines, and OCR solutions. Three years of learning that the model is maybe a fifth of the system — the rest is data quality, thresholds, and whether anyone trusts the output.
Worked on ManageEngine: testing workflows, APIs, and integration flows. My first look at software that enterprises depend on daily — and at how much rigor that dependence demands.
Automated testing and backend services, including developing the Weather Tracker Android app integrating multiple APIs for localized forecasts, push alerts, and interactive maps. My first loop of fetch, interpret, decide, notify.
Where the building habit started — the code editor, the apps, the Tamil OCR project all came out of these years.
Math and computer science, back when both were just subjects I happened to like.
Reliability thinking doesn't stop at machines — systems fail through their weakest signal, and sometimes that's a security hole. Two I've found and reported responsibly:
Details withheld deliberately — responsible disclosure means the fix gets the spotlight, not the finder.
